Woodside "Teaching would allow me the opportunity to work with this group (teenagers) and perhaps serve as a role model to some as my own high school teachers had done for me." [Full Interview]
Greg "Teaching has given me back my ahha's! Preparation, support and perseverance bring me to those days when whole groups of students exclaim, Ahhhha! I sometimes hear eureka from myself, when I reach a student, when I pass the torch successfully." [Full Interview]

Travis "I love working with young people. I love working with others and have found through several different experiences that I love teaching others. Knowing that I love teaching and the love I have for mathematics makes my decision to teach mathematics an easy one." [Full Interview]

"The SMAR2T program helped me to become a professional educator and find my niche in the world! The program was beneficial to me because I already had my Bachelor's degree in biological sciences but I was still not happy with my career path. I wanted to work with people and science. I had always tutored and worked with young adults; however, I didn't want to obtain another Bachelor's degree in education in order to teach." [Full Story]

  Clay Weidinger 2008

"His goal, once he receives his master's degree in education, is to train others to become teachers in Third-world countries. 'I started to see that I could change parts of the world that I didn't like,"he says. "I went into nursing, which is where I am now. Six months into my job, I decided that basic healthcare is only one of the components of things I'd like to help change.' Clay realized that education was a strong way to improve the lives and futures of children in developing countries. He had done some tutoring in the past but knew he would need more practice if he hoped to one day open schools in Africa." [Full Story]

Andrea "The teacher education experience has been very interesting and informative. I have enjoyed learning about how to use inquiry in the classroom and applying different teaching strategies. Working with students through the internship has given me a great chance to practice what I've learned in my courses and affirms my desire to be a teacher." [Full Interview]

Susie "The most enjoyable part of the teacher education program so far is the interaction with students on a daily basis. They are eager to understand the topics that we talk about. They ask intelligent questions and won’t rest until they have an answer, whether given to them or figured out on their own." [Full Interview]
